On 25th January soloist Anna Fedorova brought the house down with an extraordinary performance of Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto conducted by Eamonn Dougan. Showing great mastery of the piano and an exquisite sense of musical phrasing the internet sensation demonstrated by her recording at the Concertgebouw is the most watched classical concerto on youtube.
Thanks to the support of UBS and Mulberry property management, the audience were treated to a concert on the theme of love in aid fo the Oscar Maclean Foundation. The evening started with a fine performance of Verdi’s Prelude to La Traviata and progressed through pieces by Elgar, Mendelssohn, Delius, and the King of the Waltz, J. Strauss II. Many particularly enjoyed seeing the award-winning Musical Originals choir joining the orchestra for music by Barber, Weir, and a new setting of an old favourite the Owl and the Pussycat from Lenny Sayers.
