We are excited to welcome the world renowned jazz musician and composer Julian Joseph to Jersey for a two night residency.
‘The most significant jazz musician this country has ever produced for many years…’, this concert will see Julian Joseph’s concerto for violin premiering in Jersey in a new arrangement for jazz trio and violin.
Acclaimed as one of the finest jazz musicians to emerge this side of the Atlantic, Julian Joseph has devoted his long career to championing the music across the British Isles and into the far corners of the globe. He has forged a reputation beyond his formidable skills as a composer and performer, and is universally recognised as a highly knowledgable and engaging broadcaster, musical ambassador and cultural advocate.
Joseph’s new concerto will be performed by Harriet Mackenzie, an internationally renowned violinist and soloist. Harriet has performed across all five continents and has recorded with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Nova and the English Symphony Orchestra to critical acclaim. This concert features a world premiere arrangement of Julian Joseph’s ‘Islands’. Originally written as a violin concerto, Music in Action is honoured to host the first hearing of this same piece but for Jazz Trio and violin.
The concert takes place on Saturday 13th May and can be booked through eventbrite at the button below.
