The Jersey Chamber Orchestra will perform a concert of some of Mozart’s best loved works at the Jersey Opera House under the direction of acclaimed conductor Eamonn Dougan. The orchestra will be joined by superstar pianist Peter Donohoe to perform Mozart’s vibrant Piano Concert No. 20, as well as opera singers for a selection of arias from the ever-popular opera The Marriage of Figaro. The Mozart Gala in support of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, will open with the powerful overture to his final opera, Don Giovanni, and will finish with a performance of Mozart’s Symphony No.31, the ‘Paris’, written when the musical genius was only 22 years old.
Peter Donohoe’s career ignited when he won the Silver Medal at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1982, and since then he has gone on to perform with the world’s leading orchestras, conductors, and chamber musicians. A regular at the BBC Proms, he was the soloist for Sir Simon Rattle’s opening concerts as Music Director of the Berlin Philharmonic, has been the resident artist at the Edinburgh International Festival, and has recorded highly acclaimed discs including most recently, of Mozart. His recording of Mozart’s Piano Sonatas led Gramophone Magazine to comment that “he plays these pieces with a personal involvement that is as touching as it is fascinating and finely considered.”
