Social Access Bursaries for children
Music in Action’s social access scheme for at Janvrin School showed that music could help children’s wellbeing.
The reports by headmaster Iain George said that all the children who took part showed developments in wellbeing, concentration powers or self esteem.
Music in Action provided 74 bursaries for children at Janvrin School and D’Auvergne School in 2024. Of these, 32 young pupils started learning an instrument with 1-1 lessons at D’Auvergne school in May 2024. Music in Action is seeking funding to go into Rouge Bouillon and is looking at a fourth school.

Schools Workshops - Liberation Interbational Music Festival
On 8th May, the Jersey Chamber Orchestra String Quartet visited 10 schools across the island, delivering free in-school workshops that gave pupils a rare opportunity to experience live classical music in an intimate and interactive setting. These sessions introduced young people to string instruments through hands-on demonstrations, musical games, and Q&A sessions with the musicians — sparking curiosity and creativity in classrooms across Jersey. As well, as local schools, we extended our reach into care homes, thanks to the generous sponsorship of LV Care Group. Over three days, our musicians delivered five uplifting musical sessions in different care settings, bringing joy, nostalgia, and connection to residents. These performances created emotional and meaningful moments for many, particularly those living with memory loss or limited mobility — reminding us all of the power of music to reach people where words sometimes cannot.
7000+ children inspired by Music in Action’s Outreach Programme in 2024
Over 7,000 Children Inspired by Music in Action’s Outreach Programme in 2024!
In 2024, Music in Action proudly reached and inspired more than 7,000 children through our Outreach Programme — a record-breaking year filled with creativity, connection, and joy.
From engaging school workshops and interactive performances to hands-on musical experiences led by professional artists, our outreach events brought music to life for young people across the island. Whether it was their first time hearing a live orchestra, joining in a rhythm session, or singing together in harmony, each moment was a step toward building confidence, sparking imagination, and nurturing a lasting appreciation for the arts.
We believe that music should be accessible to everyone — especially the next generation — and we’re deeply grateful to our supporters, artists, educators, and partners who helped make this vision a reality.
