Music in Action

"Reach out, inspire and educate"

Music in Action provides outreach work across the community from therapeutic sessions in care homes to educational concerts for our young children. We provide artists and musicians to lead educational workshops and concerts to nurture and grow the love of music in our children and specialised courses for the more experienced to help them develop their skills. Examples include around each Jersey Chamber Orchestra concert we send ensembles into schools from Le Rocquier to Grainville.

From the Berlin Philharmonic

Octet holding masterclasses

for children, to local skilled

musicians working with

children at Mont a L'Abbee,

flute masterclasses with

legendary flautist Philippa

Davies, to performance

opportunities with dancers

from the Royal Ballet, Music in

Action aims to develop

our children.

Our musicians go into care homes and the hospital using music to enhance health. Music is used to promote mental and emotional health. It also helps improve quality of life for people coping with physical health conditions as well as soothing, promoting positive thoughts and feelings uplifting those who take part.

Jersey Sings is the latest part of this project which aims to ensure that all schools in Jersey have a school choir and that all children will get the opportunity to work together towards a significant event once a year involving over 1000 performers.
